insurance

Bodily injury liability protects the driver that caused the insident against claims.Property damage liability protects the driver that caused the insidend from claims for damages to other people's property.A collision is when any number of objects come into contact with eachother causing damage..Comprehensive gives coverage for you to replace parts of your car or fix damages that were not caused by a crash.Deductible is the amount that an insurance policyholder pays for you to fix or replace your car.

Changing a tire

First figure out which tire you want to change. I selected the left rear tire. Next i took a jack and lifted the rear of the car far enough into the air so the wheel es weren't touching the ground. Then i took all the lug nuts off and removed the wheel. I placed it off to the side and lined up the holes in the new wheel es with the bolts on the car and put the lug nuts back on. I then lowered the car and was done. Make sure to use a jack that's not broken so the car doesn't possibly fall on you.

Crash site

First I visited the Doctor and i learned allot of thing's from him. I learned that slowed messages to the Brain, slurred speech, blurred vision, and poor judgement are all caused by alcohol. Alcohol numbs the frontal lobe and cause you to say things that you wouldn't normally say. The hippo campus controls memory and when you drink alcohol it can cause you to forget things while you were under the influence. the medulla controls basic life support. When numbed by alcohol the medulla will slow downs your breathing and possibly cause you to pass out.
Marijuana can cause you to misjudge your speed and braking distance while you are driving and can effect you perception. Smoking marijuana effects your cerebellum and can cause you to lose your coordination.

I learned allot from the school. here is an example of what to do and what not to do when a drunk friend wants to leave a party. If they insist on driving themselves home you need to take them away from the crowed and take there keys. You could offer to drive them home if you haven't had anything to drink. Act laid back while you suggest this so they wont think it is a big deal. Delay the them when you have more faith in there ability to drive themselves home. Find another angle. Tell them that they look tired and that you will find someone to drive them home. Whatever you do DO NOT just let them leave and drive themselves home. It could be a fatal mistake if you let your friend drive home. it could be the last thing they ever did.

I learned several things from the lawyer. She talks about an actual case that took place in Carolina. A drunk driver was driving 60mph when she went through a red light at an intersection and t-boned a car with 5 passenger's. she was charged with 4 counts of 2ND degree murder and 1 count of assault with a deadly weapon. The driver refused to take a breathalyzer test so the police got a warrant fora blood test. Several hours after the crash the blood test was taken and it was discovered that the woman had a blood alcohol level of .21. it is estimated that at the time of the crash she had a blood alcohol level of .28. The driver had 5 drinks between 12:00 and 2:50. The driver received 17 years in prison for each count of 2ND degree murder and 3 years for the assault with the deadly weapon.

Here are the cost of an accident where a car wasn't crashed and no one was seriously injured.

car tow fee $50
car storage fee per day $137
restricted licence fee $100
insurance costs $10,800
alcohol education fee $585
minimum fine $480
defence attorneys fee $2000
court costs $406
probation fee $44
fund for head injuries $120
total $14,722

Here is what i learned from the police. Here is the the process of performing an arrest. An officer must have reasonable suspicion to pull some one over. Then if the officer smells alcohol on your breath he will have you perform a field sobriety test. If they find that you have had to much to drink they will cuff you and read your Miranda rights. If i remember correctly this is how they go: You have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney if you cannot afford one, one will be presented to you by the court of law. After that they will take you to the police station and test your breath, urine, and blood. Then you can pay bail so you don't have to spend the night in a holding cell. Next comes the arraignment and court where the present the formal charges and you need to plead guilty or not. Then comes the trial and sentencing.

I was the passenger in the car.

I think that drinking and driving is just plain stupid and nothing good can come of it.

Explain the benefits of a 4 second following distance.

If you have a 1 second following distance you will have to turn very sharply to avoid hitting the car in front of you if it stops suddenly. A 2 second distance still requires a big turn. a 3 second distance brings the turn down a little ways but no where near as much as a 4 second following distance.

Describe how to time your arrival

If you can see a red light thats ahead of you and there are not cars behind you, you can slow down so that you arrive when there is a green light.

Mass Pike Crash Kills 1, Causes Serious Delays(WBZ) Westboro An accident on the Mass. Pike in Westboro has left one person dead, according to police. The crash happened on the highway's eastbound lanes shortly after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. According to state police, 33-year-old Elizabeth Bakanansa of Worcester lost control of her car, rolled over and sustained serious injuries and was taken to UMass Medical Center. The passenger of the car, 45-year-old Ronald Ziridamu of Worcester, was pronounced dead at the scene. The right and middle lanes of the Mass. Pike eastbound were closed for three hours while crews cleaned up the crash. That closure caused terrible traffic delays for the evening commute.

The driver was probably speeding and had to swerve to avoid something.

Commuter Train Hits Truck In Braintree(WBZ) BRAINTREE An MBTA commuter train hit a delivery truck in Braintree Wednesday afternoon.70 passengers were on board when the train hit the rear end of a Stop & Shop Peapod truck at Hancock and Plain Streets.MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said no one was hurt. The train was heading for North Station.Pesaturo said the truck's rear end was in the crossing when the crash occurred. Officials say the gates, lights and other safety equipment at the intersection were working properly when tested after the collision.A section of track was closed while authorities investigated, Pesaturo said. He could not say when it would reopen.Passengers on the train, traveling from Middleborough to South Station in Boston, were taken by bus to the Braintree station, where they could take the subway into Boston.

I think that the truck driver should have been paying attention and he should have mad sure that there was no train headed towards them.

NEW BRITAIN - -- A 19-year-old city man was killed Thursday night when his car crashed off McClintock Street.Gregory Jurczyk of 409 Francis St. was declared dead at the scene. Police gave the following account:Jurczyk was driving a 2003 Subaru north on McClintock Street, approaching Magnolia Street, shortly after 11 p.m., when he lost control of the car. The car traveled through front yards on McClintock Street and went airborne, hitting two trees. It then ricocheted off a parked Ford Taurus, rolled through a yard and came to rest, upright, in the backyard of 416 Eddy Glover Blvd. New Britain police are investigating.

Like most collisions the driver probably was speeding or not paying attention to his surroundings.

BOSTON -- Two people die after a six-vehicle crash in Falmouth over the weekend, police say The accident took place at the intersection of Route 151 and Sandwich Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.According to police, the driver of a Toyota 4Runner was speeding toward the intersection when it was struck by a Saab convertible. The 4Runner crashed into a Dodge pickup and two other vehicles, a fourth vehicle was hit with debris from the crash.

If the person driving the 4Runner was smart enough to not be speeding then none of this would have happened.

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. -- A Bedford woman was hospitalized after a two-car crash at the intersection of Routes 9 and 63 in Chesterfield, Wednesday.Teresa Geib, 43, had to be extracted from her 2007 Honda Civic using the Jaws of Life. Both front and back driver's side door's had to be removed, according to Chesterfield Police Lt. Duane Chickering. Geib was transported to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene with injuries that were not life-threatening, Chickering said. Geib was driving west on Route 9 with her husband Eric, when the car of George Idelkope, 54, of Chesterfield, heading north on Route 63 across Route 9, hit the driver's side of the Geib car, and eventually came to a stop down a bank 30 feet from the roadway. Neither Idelkope nor Eric Geib were hurt in the collision. "All parties were wearing seat belts," Chickering said. He also said due to the deployment of air bags in the Geib car, injuries were likely reduced. Responding to the scene were Chesterfield police, fire and rescue, Spofford Rescue and the Keene Fire Department. Traffic was slowed in both lanes of Route 9, but continued to move. Traffic along the end of Route 63 to the south of Route 9 was halted while the scene was cleaned up. Both cars were towed from the scene.

I think this was just bad luck for both drivers.

FALMOUTH, Mass. State and Falmouth police continued their investigation on Monday into a weekend crash that killed two people and injured seven others. The Saturday night accident was apparently preceded by an incident at the Massachusetts Military Reservation.A spokeswoman at the base said a Toyota sport utility vehicle with two men inside made an unauthorized entry into the compound. After being questioned by guards, the driver sped off, crashing through a steel barrier as it left the base, the spokeswoman said.Police said the speeding SUV later collided with a car at the intersection of Route 151 and Sandwich Road, then hit several other vehicles including a pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up truck, Edward Kipp, 48, of Providence, was killed. Also killed was a passenger in the SUV who police identified as Michael Warren. No age or hometown was given. The driver of the SUV, Michael Catarius of Mashpee, was hospitalized with serious injuries. No charges have been filed at this time

This one is like the first article about the 4Runner. If the guy in the SUV wasn't speeding then this wouldn't of happened.

This has a lot to do with what we have been talking about in class. a good portion of these deaths and injures could have been avoided all together if the people involved had been paying more attention to what was going on around them.

Explain the 3 kinds of stops

Legal Stops-stops you make behinds the white line at stop signs and red lights.

Safety Stops-Stops you make at cross-walks, sidewalks,or at the end of a road.

Staggered stops- When you stop at a legal stop, and then continue on to a safety stops as so you can get a better view and make sure that you are safe to pull out.

list 5 ways to communicate with other drivers

1 Flash your headlights, let other people know that they need to turn there own lights on

2 honking your horn could let other drivers know something is not right

3 Use your brake lights to let people know that you are slowing down and or stopping.

4 Use your turn signals to let someone know you are turning or going to a different lane.

5 lane positions show if you want to pass someone or the other way around.
